August 2005

One of the machines at the end of the gravel conveyor over the River Great Ouse at sunset.

On the Old West River, at the GOBA mooring just beyond the high bridge. Zinfandel in some lesser company. The footpath on the top of the dike heads off into the distance... looks inviting.

D runs joyfully along the dike.

This is a lettuce picking machine, seen out at work on the fens near Streatham Old Engine. Never have I seen such a thing before. The tongue at the front is a conveyor belt, taking the picked objects inside to be disposed of.

August 2005: Llangrannog

This holiday I took somewhat more than 700 photos. Having a digital camera encourages this and may even be sensible, but it makes wading through the collection a long task. Here are few "highlights" in some sense.

Daniel attempts to beat back the waves; Carreg Bica in the background.

Meanwhile, I discover I have failed to upload E, so here she is, sitting back straight and very pink after having her hair combed. Note "Penrose" in the background, but I was reading Gill this holiday (for the great wiki Coriolis wars).

D and E "dancing" in a bridge. Although it looks like they are dancing, really they are quite independent (you can see they are different distances if you look closely) but its a lovely pic anyway.

I continue by a bit of self-indulgence and a test of your patience: not one but two views of a cloud.

Interesting "jellyfish" cloud - precipitation evaporating before it hits the ground. I think.

Old stone against blue sky... windows at the ruined abbey at St Dogmaels.

Sign by "The (water)Mill", St Dogmaels near Cardigan. Daniel is fascinated by mills of all kinds, especially watermills. This one still runs and grinds its own flour.

Daniel silhoutted against the light, engaged in his favourite beach pastime.
